The annual public call for nominations for the Ordre national du Québec—the Québec government’s highest and most prestigious honour—ended on Friday, November 9.
The Québec public was invited to propose individuals who have distinguished themselves through their accomplishments and influence at the regional, national, or international levels. The response was excellent: many nominations were made. As in previous years, the Ordre’s Board will evaluate the nominations and make recommendations to the Premier. The Board consists of nine members of the Ordre national elected by their peers.
In May or June, an announcement will be published on the Ordre’s Web site, listing the nominations for the 2013 awards. The Premier of Québec will then pay homage to these exceptional people from all cultures and backgrounds who are helping build a creative, innovative, and unified Québec society. They will be welcomed into the ranks of the Ordre national du Québec, as Grand Officer, Officer, or Knight, during a ceremony usually held in June at the National Assembly.
