Any citizen can nominate an individual for appointment to (or promotion within) the Ordre national du Québec.
Every year, usually in September (and October), a public call for nominations is published in Québec daily and weekly newspapers and on the Web.
Divided into three ranks, Grand Officer, Officer and Knight, the Ordre national du Québec is the highest honour bestowed by the Québec government.
Eligibility for induction into the Ordre or promotion within it is open to anyone born or resident in Québec, apart from members of the National Assembly.
The calendar is generally as follows:

The 2027 call for nominations closes on October 30.
