Insignia awarding

Québec appointments – How many insignia award ceremonies are there in a year?

Only one: the annual insignia awards ceremony, which is always presided over by the Premier of Québec.

Québec appointments – How are the insignia of Ordre awarded?

Once a year, the Premier of Québec pays tribute to the recipients of the Ordre. He awards them their full-size insignia in person in a ceremony generally held in the National Assembly building in June.

At this time, new members also receive their other insignia (miniature insignia and lapel pin) and a certificate.

Foreign appointments – How are the insignia of the Ordre awarded?

Recipients receive their full-size insignia and certificate from the Premier of Québec or – exceptionally – from another representative of Québec. The presentation will take place in Québec or abroad, depending on the circumstances.

What is the certificate?

The certificate is a document bearing the signature or initials of the Premier of Québec and drafted in French only. Bearing the seal of the Ordre, it attests to the award and rank attributed to the member of the Ordre. It is the external sign of a special, official honour.
