The gold book is an element of decorum used each time an insignia of the Ordre national du Québec is awarded to a Québec personality.
Every person decorated by the Ordre signs the book, along with the Premier or Premier’s designated representative for the occasion.
It contains valuable, illustrious thoughts.
The gold book measures 5 cm × 30 cm × 50 cm. It is made of leather and handmade parchment paper.
Until 2013, the original gold book (described above) was always used for foreign personalities named honorary members in the Ordre national du Québec. Since 2013, for these people, a smaller-sized gold book has replaced the original, bulky, heavy book. This new one is much more practical for plane travel and diplomatic bags.
